Rabi'ah Adawiyah ~

Hello, anyone ... or maybe no one.. yeah saya akan menuliskan tentang seorang wanita bernama Rabi'ah Adawiyah. Beliau adalah seorang sufi wanita yang amat terkenal pada sejarah kejayaan islam. Beliau dikenal dengan doktrin cinta pada Allah SWT.


Beliau juga terkenal karena pernah berbicara seperti ini:
"Ya Allah, kalau aku menyembahMu karena menghindar dari neraka-Mu, campakkan saja aku ke neraka. Kalau aku menyembah-Mu karenaberharap surga, tutup pintu-Mu rapat-rapat. Tapi kalau aku menyembah karena mengharap rahmat-Mu, jangan pisahkan aku dari rahmat-Mu."


Ya, menurut kalangan tertentu itu dibilang sombong tapi, coba deh pikirin lagi kalau kita menyembah Allah SWT karna ngarepin masuk surga, bukan karena mengharapkan rahmat-Nya atau cinta-Nya. maka ibadah kita bukan semata mata karna Allah SWT, tapi karna pengen surga-Nya. iya kan??


Awalnya Rabi'ah adalah seorang budak yang didapat dari perang. Ia ditangkap dan dijual pada saudagar pemilik toko besar di kota Baghdad. Rabi'ah sangat rajin mengerjakan pekerjaan yang diberikan padanya. Sayangnya tuannya sering memberikan pekerjaan yang banyak sekali. Meskipun begitu, Rabi'ah yang masih muda jarang mengeluh dan sering menghabiskan malamnya dengan shalat dan bermunajat pada Allah SWT. Lama kelamaan, hatinya dipenuhi rasa cinta yang begitu dalam hanya kepada Allah SWT. Dalam do'a Rabi'ah, ia lebih sering menangis seperti merindukan kekasihnya.


Pada suatu malam, majikan Rabi'ah terbangun. Lalu dia melewati kamar Rabi'ah dan mendengar Rabi'ah merintih dan menangis. Sang majikan terkejut dan bingung, maka dia nguping ke dinding. Rabi'ah terdengar terisak isak sambil mengucapkan, "Wahai Tuhanku, malam akan segera berlalu, dan rinduku belum habis dalam mencintai-Mu. Namun apalah dayaku? Majikanku yang kepadanya Engkau telah menitipkan diriku, akan memintaku untuk melakukan pekerjaan-pekerjaan harianku. Ampuni aku karena terlalu sebentar bercengkrama dengan-Mu, karena aku pun tak ingin mengecewakan majikanku."


Setelah mendengar itu dia pun mengintip Rabi'ah yang sedang berdo'a itu dan dia melihat sebuah lampu berayun-ayun meneranginya tanpa seutsa tali. Ia pun sangat kaget dan ketakutan, keesokan paginya sang majikan membebaskan Rabi'ah. Rabi'ah merasa senang sekali, ia pun langsung sujud syukur pada Allah SWT. Lalu ia pun membangun sebuah pondok tak jauh dari kota Baghdad dan menghabiskan waktunya beribadah pada Allah SWT.

Maryam ~ a woman whose name was enshrined in Al-Qur'an

Hello .. You must be know about Maryam. The only one figure woman whose name was enshrined in Al-Qur'an is Maryam. This name often combined with Prophet Isa name. Maryam's name was mentioned as much as 34 times in Al-Qur'an, spread in 12 surah. Moreover there is a surah Al-Qur'an that named "surah Maryam".
This surah that consist of 98 verses included surah Makkiyah, because almost all of the verses revealed before Prophet Muhammad SAW hijrah to Madina, moreover before Prophet SAW's comrade hijrah to Habsyi country (Ethiopia). Maryam story on Al-Qur'an prove her glory at the sight of Allah SWT, so that she as a figure woman fit to be an example for muslims.


Maryam cared by Prophet Zakaria AS after handed over by her mother, Hannah. Maryam's mother had promised and planned it before Maryam born. In the of the Prophet Zakaria, Maryam showed special characters like moral virtue and her obedience on worshiping to Allah SWT.


Maryam's amazing and wonderful stories on surah Maryam started with amazing and wonderful event too, it's story about Prophet Zakaria AS. Allah SWT fulfill Prophet Zakaria prayer that pleaded for a son (Prophet Yahya) as a heir and progessors of his goals. Actually, Zakaria was very old. Normally, his wife (Elisabeth, Maryam's sister) should no longer to give birth because she was barren.


In Al-Qur'an is told that at one time in Maryam's room obtained fruits. When saw that, Prophet Zakaria AS shocked and asked to Maryam, "Hey Maryam, where did you get this (food)?" Maryam answered, "This food was from Allah. Actually Allah giving sustenance to whomsoever without reckoning." (Q.3:37)


Maryam came from Imran family. Maryam means "blameless". After her father died, she cared by Prophet Zakaria. When she was in a mihrab, Maryam visited by a malaika. That messengers told that Maryam was chosen by Allah to contain a holy son that will be a Prophet. Maryam shocked after heard this message because she was never been touched by a man. She worried will be ridiculed by people if she is pregnant. When her obstetrician got bigger, she avoided the crowds, then she moved to her village, Nasaret. Maryam birth a baby, that is Prophet Isa, without a husband (Q.3:45-48; 19:16-35; 21:91; 66:12). After she give birth, Maryam felt hungry and thirsty, she rocking date palm (Q.19:22-26), then ate the fruits that dropped.

Fatimah Az-Zahra

Fatimah is the beloved daughter of prophet Muhammad SAW and his wife Khadijah. She also a wife of Ali bin Abi Thalib (the last great Caliph). She birth Hasan, Husein, Muhassin, Zainab and Ummi Kulsum. Fatimah born  at 20th Jumadilakhir.
She was a muslimah that was closest and longest accompany Prophet SAW in teaching Islam. Fatimah also known as a grand lady noble.

When she was 14 years old, Fatimah was left by her mother Khadijah. Prophet Muhammad SAW really love Fatimah. To showed how he really love Fatimah, he said "Fatimah is a part of me, who is hurt her it means hurt me, who is cheer her, it means cheer me too." Otherwise , Fatimah also love her father. when prophet SAW sick before his death, She didn't stop crying. Her cry became louder when prophet SAW whispered something to her. But after the second whisper, Fatimah smiling. To people that asked her about it, she explained that her father whispered that Fatimah is the first person that will meet him in the afterlife.

Al-Farabi ~ The True Master

Al-Farabi The True Master
Al-Farabi is the first person who put logic into Arabic culture. His expertise is far exceeds Aristoteles. His full name is Abu Nasr Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Tarkhan bin Uzlag al-Farabi.
He born on 870 in Wasij Village, Transoxiana. When he was a boy, he known as a diligent and clever boy. He studied religion and Arabic, Turkish language,and parsi in Farab. When he adult, he moved to Baghdad and extend many kind of  knowledge, that is philosophy, logic, ethics, politics, and music. From Baghdad then he move to Harran (Iran) and studied greek philosophy to some expert. After that he come back to Baghdad.


Al-Farabi was also known as a music expert. Beside writin music theory book that titled Kitab al-Musiq al-Kabir (Buku Besar tentang Musik), he also could show his expertise playing music. When he together with Amir Aayf ad-Dawlah, Amir asked him is he like listening to the music. When al-Farabi answered yes, that ruler then called his best musicians to played music in front of him. When they played the music, al-Farabi found mistakes, and he said it to the rulers. Then Amir Sayf ad-Dawlah asked al-Farabi to played his own musical instrument. When he played it, the people there laugh. Then he changed his music composition, the people that heard it cry. Then he changed again, the people that heard it fell asleep.

The Greatest Dessert Explorer

Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Battuta is the biggest explorer in the middle ages. He is a muslim explorer. 
Around the autumn, he starts his journey explore the largest desert, Sahara Desert.

At that time, no one knows what mystery that lies there. Then he tried to along the ancient route that usually passed by the salt and gold trader. Then he knows that Sahara is not just a wide sandy plain.


Ibn Battuta found Ahaggar mountain with some peaks as high as 3000 meter, large rivers, swampy area, and fertile oasis. Of course he also stopover in some trading town, met the hunters, and saw  African animals that almost he never known.
He has been explore from Spain in the west until China in east, from Timbuktu in west Africa until steppe desert in Rusia. Some historian think that Ibn Battuta exceed Marco Polo. 
Ibn Battuta was not just exploring and visiting many countries. He was also practice his knowledge that he has.


Around 1330-1333, Ibn Battuta arrived in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. He found precious goods there. Ho got scrolls cantaining Hadith Prophet that written by Bukhari-Muslim.
All of his journey was wrote by hisself  in a book that known with name Rihla that means journey. He wrote it with help from a scholar named Ibn Juazzy.
The real name of Rihla is Tuhfatal-Nuzzarfi Ghara'ibal Amsharwa'ajaib Al-Ashfar, the meaning approximately is boon for those who appreciate the wonders of the cities and journey.
